Our safety management program is designed on the principles of Management Leadership and Employee Involvement, Worksite Analysis, Hazard Prevention and Control, and Safety & Health Training. 

These principles are the foundation of any good safety program, and they are the main elements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), of which we are a member at the highest level: "Star".  In fact, we are one of only two companies in our industry classification in the entire nation to achieve VPP Star.  We are very proud, and we believe it says for us everything we would want to say about ourselves regarding our commitment to safety. 

Jim Steele, our safety director, came to Falewitch Construction in 2004 with one of his goals being to help us achieve this status.  Jim has over 15 years experience and a degree in industrial safety. He is well known around Nebraska and the country as a knowledgable, motivated safety professional.  Jim and the programs he has helped establish over the years have been featured twice in Occupational Hazards Magazine.  He often writes articles for The National Safety Council's quarterly publication "Safety PRO".  He is routinely asked by OSHA to teach "outreach classes" on specific safety topics.  He is also a "Special Government Employee" for OSHA.  As an SGE, he helps OSHA audit other companies applying for VPP status. 

In addition to helping our company avoid the losses associated with unsafe working behaviors and conditions, we believe our safety programs adds value to the construction services we provide our customers.   We are striving to be known as a premiere contractor by our customers and our employees, and Jim's presence on the jobsites is one more way we intend to accomplish this objective.
